My initial impression of the film was that it was dark, dreary, and somber. I was expecting this to change over time but it actual became darker as the story went on. I found there to be a few interesting moments – like the surrealism of the mirror reflection turning into woman – but overall the film was a little difficult for me to follow. I was expecting it to be much older than it is and was very surprised when I found that it was created in 1994. I thought there were some powerful stills from the animation but the animation as a whole did not pique my interest.

I did gain more respect for the animation through some research after discovering that the animation was completed through a succession of alterations of a single scene/drawing. This makes more sense as to why the animation appears choppy like stop motion animation. This technique is a metaphor for layering memory – building off the last iteration.
