This project focuses on stimulating the perception of the viewer. The three-dimensionality of the piece is achieved through a series of sectional cuts on eleven sheets of acrylic. Individually, the sheets carry no meaning, but together as a collective, the sheets cause the viewer’s eyes to form a three-dimensional object that appears to be floating in space. In using this strategy, an interactive element emerges as the viewer is forced to move around the piece to gain a full understanding of how it works. The viewer also has the opportunity to slide the sheets within the built-in track for more visual outcomes. This interaction is a continuous theme that has carried over from the first project, Obstruction.
