I found the Ted Talk to be very clear and precise. He proposed a very organized way of thinking that flowed nicely from one thought to another. For the most part, I agree with his stance that remix is not piracy. I think plagiarism is a becoming increasingly more difficult to pinpoint – particularly in creative fields. In writing, it’s easier to spot words directly copied from another piece, however, in something like architecture, the line between inspiration and plagiarism is quite blurry. Precedents are so important to creative fields and whether it’s a conscious decision to draw inspiration from something you’ve already seen or not, precedents have a large impact on the way you think and what you perceive as possible. While this is different than remixing, I do think that they share the commonality of the need for a better system of share-ability.
