I did some further exploration of lenticular imaging, particularly about the process of making such images. The more I dug, the more fascinated I became. I watched a short film (the link is provided below) that went into the different technologies that led us to animation/moving images, all of which predated the exclusively digital animation that we are now familiar with. Some of the processes identified in the film that are currently being executed by artists like Gregory Barsamian and Austine Wood Camarow can be quite complicated and done at a very large scale. However, the principles of the way in which their moving images are created come from some clever ideas that may be possible to replicate.

After some research, I feel more confident that I can achieve this idea of a moving image and perhaps a clever trick on perspective. The factor that I’m still working through is what the moving images should portray. Currently, I’m toying with the concept of movement in nature. This would capture the beauty of nature in things like a growing flower, trees swaying by wind, a flame flickering, etc.
